I sacrificed for my career like it was a person.

Holidays.
Birthdays.
Peace.

I missed dinners.
I missed sleep.
I missed parts of myself.

Because I thought if I gave enough, it would give back.

Validation.
Security.
Worth.

Here’s what I learned the hard way:

A career is not a relationship.
A career is not a purpose.
A career is not a mirror.

It cannot love you.
It cannot see you.
It cannot tell you who you are.

It can only use what you produce.

And when you stop producing?

It replaces you.

Not cruelly.
Not personally.
Just efficiently.

Because it was never built to care.

We confuse success with meaning.
We confuse titles with identity.
We confuse applause with value.

And then one day the applause stops, the title changes, the emails slow down…
…and you are left alone with yourself wondering why you feel empty after doing everything right.

Because you were feeding a machine and starving a soul.

Purpose is internal.
Worth is internal.
Validation is internal.

And the moment you realize that?

That’s when the courage shows up.

The courage to leave.
The courage to pivot.
The courage to build something that reflects you instead of consumes you.

Your career is something you do.
Your purpose is something you are.
